ELEKTRA PROGRAMMING KEY COMPARISON

During 2005, Elektra changed the size of their programming lock and corresponding key. The older style key, called PRE-2005, has a 7mm barrel. The newer style key, called SINCE 2005, has a 6mm barrel and has a notch on the outside of the barrel which corresponds with a pin inside the lock. An additional difference is that the PRE-2005 key was removable from the lock while in programming mode. The SINCE-2005 key is removable only in its straight-up position.

In the top right image below we have highlighted the notch in the SINCE-2005 key. In the lower right image we show the position of the notch as well as its corresponding pin inside the lock. Note that there are additional pins inside the SINCE-2005 lock, but they do not protrude as much as the one highlighted with the arrow.
