 2013 – PRESENT

(removable element)

Note that there is an even earlier boiler version where the non-integrated element was held in place with 2 nuts on the terminals. If you’re replacing that boiler, follow the guidelines below for Pre-2006 models.

For Pre-2006 units:  you will need a KIT to upgrade to the new style boiler (part: Silvia-H.E. 2013 Kit). Note that this kit includes the boiler gasket (part: 36405001). Please see additional recommendations below.

For units built from 2006 – 2013: you will need the upper half of the new-style boiler (part: 10705636), but you do not need the extra pipe and fitting. This boiler assembly also includes the boiler gasket (part: 36405001). Please see additional recommendations below.

For units built since 2013 with the removable element: as long as the boiler is in good shape (i.e. not cracked or warped from being exposed to freezing temperatures, etc.), you’ll need only the element itself (part: 10705638) and the included element gasket (part: 36220023). We highly recommend that you also replace the boiler gasket (part: 36405001) after opening the boiler. You can usually reuse your existing element nut, but it is available separately should it be damaged in the removal process (part: 23000237). At this time, the element washer is not available separately and must be reused.

No matter which configuration you are upgrading from:

  • we recommend using heat sink grease (thermal paste) between the bases of your thermostats and the boiler to insure they properly read the boiler’s temperature (part: NTE303)
  • you may need 1 – 3 additional copper washers to achieve a leak-free installation (part: 36240006)
  • consider adding the Silvia boiler insulation to help stabilize the boiler temperature (part: 69000409).
