This is the current 2019 Saeco & Gaggia Redesigned Pressurized Portafilter which replaces all older versions of pressurized portafilters.

Saeco stopped producing the model we used to refer to as the “newer-style” (with the ergonomic handle) and returned to manufacturing one more similar to the style they made many years ago. We are puzzled by the choice. This portafilter is lighter and feels like a downgrade from the most recent version with the rubberized handle, but it is the ONLY pressurized portafilter currently produced by/for Saeco. Note that Gaggia recently purchased Saeco, so the packaging now has their logo.
The handle is a hard black plastic, and the portafilter comes complete with a double basket. Please email us if you are not sure if this portafilter will fit your specific unit.
NOTE: Older portafilters had a basket that was easier to remove than the current version. Until the included portafilter clip wears, you will need either a flat-blade screwdriver or a basket removal tool to remove this portafilters basket. Note that it IS normal to need a tool to remove the basket on most portafilters, so this is not a defect. It is just different than previous Saeco/Gaggia Pressurized Portafilter versions.

Please note, there are multiple reasons why an existing pressurized portafilter is no longer brewing properly, including:
portafilter malfunctioning
blockages due to scale or coffee residues
weak pump
As this is a non-returnable part under any circumstances (they are inspected and spring mechanism is tested prior to shipping), we recommend reviewing this troubleshooting guide before replacing an existing portafilter that has quit brewing.
