Considered by many as a game changer, the Baratza Sette 270 series are revolutionary conical burr grinders designed and perfected in Liechtenstein over the course of 8 years. Combining innovative features like a modular portafilter holder, precision timing, and a 40mm burr mechanism where the outer burr rotates, the Sette 270 series sets a new standard for high-speed, precision grinding at home. Equipped with a high torque motor and a 19:1 gear reduction box, the grinders are incredibly fast - nearly twice as fast as other home grinders, including the Baratza Forte - with minimal retention. A typical double shot dose of 17-18g can be ground in roughly 5 seconds with minimal variation when dosing by time. Note from Baratza: “We now do a post-machining treatment to our burrs with bead-blasting. This removes any sharp, loose metal shavings and also produces a finish that is more rust resistant. This new finish results in a temporary (but significant!) reduction of grind throughput on the order of 50%. Once seasoned with regular use (about 5-8 lbs, depending on coffee type) the grind speed will be back up to normal Sette throughput (i.e. 3-3.5gr/sec @espresso, 5gr/sec at filter). The motor speed and ring burr rotation speed is unchanged from earlier Settes, the grind speed is totally a function of the finish on the burrs.”
