Based on the great success of the Vibiemme Domobar Super HX espresso machines in the USA, Vibiemme has designed the Vibiemme Junior HX. This “Junior-size” Vibiemme is a great option if your space does not allow for the full-size Domobar Super. You still get the same great E-61 grouphead, so you can both steam milk and extract espresso at the same time, and you can fine tune the pressure in the boiler with an adjustable pressurestat. The vibrating pumps are the same, as is the OPV, vacuum- and one-way valves. The Junior also has the same multi-directional, commercial-grade steam and hot-water valves.

A few things help make the Junior smaller and less expensive. There is less stainless steel for the smaller footprint, of course, so that saves on manufacturer’s cost. In addition, it uses a smaller pressurestat (commonly found on home unit espresso machines), a smaller boiler (1 liter versus 2 liters), a smaller drip tray, and smaller microswitches on the grouphead and tank.

The Junior’s copper boiler is wrapped with insulation for maximum heat retention and stability. Note that copper boilers retain heat better than stainless steel boilers, but they are also more susceptible to damage from scale, so it is important (as with any espresso machine) that you stay on top of mineral build up by using softened water and descaling regularly.

Vibiemme holds the patent on the original E-61 Faema grouphead. Hot water circulates from the HX through the grouphead to keep the temperature stable and hot in you group and portafilter (which we recommend you always leave engaged in the grouphead).

All Vibiemme reservoir models have a built-in safety system. Should the water level in the reservoir run low, the spring-activated plate underneath the reservoir will lift enough to disengage from the reservoir microswitch and cut power to the element. The point of disengagement is adjustable.

This listing is for the standard mirror-polish stainless steel body. The Junior is also available in black and stainless steel, and white and stainless steel.

• Coffee scoop – also considered a “throw away” as you should be using fresh ground coffee from a doserless grinder to get the most out of your machine
